Kurzweil Education Systems Conversion Tool
Stephen Baum at Kurzweil Educational Systems has developed a simple KES-format conversion tool (currently in beta) that converts NIMAS files to KES files. The KES file can then be read in Kurzweil 1000 or Kurzweil 3000 software. The tool is still being tested and does not yet incorporate images. AMPs or others who desire to try or test the tool and report bugs and suggested changes may contact Mr. Baum at steve [at] kesi [dot] com.

Dolphin EasyConverter
Dolphin's web site describes EasyConverter as able to create "Large Print, MP3, DAISY and Braille versions of learning materials that can either be scanned from paper, or input from Word, PDF, HTML, or text files" and able to "convert from a wide range of file formats including printed hand-outs to downloaded PDFs, Word files, NIMAS content, and HTML documents."
The NIMAS Development and Technical Assistance Center, supported by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), works with states, TA systems, disability advocates, national associations, technology experts, publishers and content conversion houses to improve the timely delivery of high quality accessible educational materials to students with disabilities.The NIMAS Center was launched on October 1, 2004.The project officer for both the Development and TA Centers is Bonnie Jones, Ed.D.
