Metadata package files for NIMAS filesets have evolved over the course of implementing the Standard because metadata elements were not finalized when the NIMAS 1.0 technical specification was published. The Technical Panel agreed that metadata elements must arise from practice (implementation) and specified only a limited set of required elements for NIMAS package files. Since that time, OPF files have been developed in order to validate to the oebps 1.2 specification and to satisfy the metadata requirements of the NIMAC repository. Posted here are versions of OPF files included in various incremental exemplar filesets. All of the OPF files in this archive were valid NIMAS 1.0 or 1.1 packages files at the time of release. The NIMAS Development and Technical Assistance Center, supported by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), works with states, TA systems, disability advocates, national associations, technology experts, publishers and content conversion houses to improve the timely delivery of high quality accessible educational materials to students with disabilities.The NIMAS Center was launched on October 1, 2004.The project officer for both the Development and TA Centers is Bonnie Jones, Ed.D.
