NIMAS Standards Board

The purpose of the NIMAS Board will be to maintain, advance, and support the NIMAS and to facilitate the timely provision of accessible versions of core print instructional materials to qualifying students. The Board will include NIMAS Development Center staff, DAISY Maintenance Committee personnel, Accessible Media Producers (AMPs), staff from the National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC), curriculum publishers, and experts in the area of specialized-format production for individuals with disabilities. NIMAS Board members will initially be appointed by the NIMAS Development Center to a two-year renewable term beginning in January, 2008. Subsequent member nominations will be submitted directly to the Board. The NIMAS Board will be comprised of both voting and non-voting (ex-officio) members.

The Board reports to the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) via the NIMAS Development Center as its sponsor and support services shall be provided or arranged by the NIMAS Development Center. The Board will advise the NIMAS Development Center on issues related to the NIMAS, and the Board shall act solely in a technical consultancy capacity to the NIMAS Development Center.
