Images provided with baseline filesets are 300 dpi as required by the Standard, and 72 dpi images are provided with X-/HTML and HTML extension-only filesets since they may be more appropriate for some uses. Simply swap out the images folder from one set to another if a different dpi is desired.
The baseline NIMAS files comprise the basic NIMAS 1.1 fileset that would be submitted by an educational publisher. NIMAS 1.1 is based on the DAISY 2005 DTD; publishers and other producers are encouraged to use full DAISY mark-up wherever possible.
Earlier versions of these baseline files were NIMAS 1.0 files; these have been moved to the Supplementary Files section. The official NIMAS DTD, 1.0, has been updated on July 19, 2006 to 1.1. If you have downloaded 1.0 files from this baseline section, you should now download the 1.1 versions.

This exemplar recreates a substantial percentage of layout and rendering of its print version source files and therefore closely resembles a typical K–12 textbook. Interested parties should note that there are many, many ways of rendering XML content, both via css and in other ways, such as through xsl, and that each project will combine its own elements of content, time, complexity, features, etc., that will have bearing on such decisions.
Please note that the latest NIMAS Technical Committee meeting has resulted in the following requirement: each NIMAS-conformant baseline fileset will contain a PDF-format copy of the title page (or whichever page contains ISBN and copyright information) of the print-based source.
The supplementary files included here are not part of the required NIMAS fileset. The XHTML file with content images can be considered a student-ready version of the exemplar.
The HTML file set includes the following:
HTML extension files. These HTML files have been converted from their XML versions by changing their extension. Please see the WCGXHTML.xhtml version for a true HTML file that validates to the XHTML 1.0 Transitional DTD.
This XHTML validates to the XHTML 1.0 Transitional DTD. Its mark-up differs from that of the HTML extension files.

The NIMAS Exemplar 2 Comparison Chart compares the NIMAS 1.1 Baseline Element Set with the elements used in Exemplar 2: World Cultures & Geography.
These baseline files validate to the NIMAS 1.0 DTD which has now been updated to NIMAS 1.1 as of July 19, 2006. If you have downloaded these files previously from the Baseline section you should be aware that they are now considered out-of-date. They are provided here for background and information about the progression of the NIMAS specification.
